FREE PATTERN FRIDAY - CULOTTE PATIO SET

Double Bed Sheet Becomes -

Palazzo Patio Set

This creative idea was originally published in a newspaper in September 1970. West Point Pepperell’s designers came up with this idea and chose the plaid, flat double sheet.
Sheets were plain white until the late 1960’s. Many people, including my mother, used sheets for all kinds of projects. There were curtains, pillows, chair seats, even stuffed animals.
I had never seen this idea until I found this article in a bag of patterns and scraps of paper.

The Drawstring design and plenty of ease, make this suitable for sizes 8 through 14.

  11. Fabulous pattern, Mary Beth! One can still get 60's sheets NIP every once in a while. My gig wasn't sheets, it was Indian cotton gauze bedspreads. I made many a hippie dress out of them in the early '70's. The challenge was to use a spread with an exotic border then arrange patterns pieces so all would come out perfectly matched when the garment was finished. I would love to do this set up in an old spread!

  12. What a great pattern!
This reminds me of something my (very hip) mother wore back in the day. I think she called it a patio outfit. Thanks for posting this...I would love to try making it with some of the vintage sheets I have hanging around.
