Free Pattern Friday - Powder Mitt

Powder Mitt

I have fond memories of my grandmother's dressing table and the smell of her body powder - Chanel No. 5. The soft fabric with the powder puffing out. I'm sure that we wasted a lot of that powder!

Now you can make your own Powder Mitt!

  1. Oh, the wonderful memories! My grandmother had a glove like this. I'm sure we wasted a lot of powder on every visit, too. :-)

  3. Ah yes...did everyone's grandma smell like powder? Mine did! (And the inside of her pocketbook smelled like Evening of Paris and Dentyne!)

  6. Well I got one as a Christmas gift--filled with Elizabeth Arden "Blue Grass"--I loved it. Wonder if Arden still makes the body powder.

  7. Yes, you can still get "Blue Grass" dusting powder, right off the Elizabeth Arden site. Mention of all the older fragrances reminds me of when I was growing up in England how all the up scale bathrooms had pay to spritz perfume dispensers. I agree it would make a good shower cloth, just slip in soap instead of powder.

  8. So cute! I love it! My grandmother had one like this and I remember her getting me a mitt from Avon-I think it was Sweet Honesty fragrance. So sweet, thanks so much for sharing!! :)

    1. My grandmother would take us out of the bath and make a toga out of a towel until we dried off. Then she would dust us with her Chanel No. 5 or 19 - (can't remember) powder and put our nighties on. I still look for Gram when I smell someone wearing it. Miss her so much!

  9. What a wonderful share, thank you and my favorite memory of my grandmother is the Jergen's lotions, the original. When ever I get a whiff of the scent memories of her flood me.

  10. Powder was the best part of bath time! This would make a great gift with soap or powder and you could use up some of those bigger fabric scraps!
