Mid-Century Gloves

Anyone who grew up in the 1950's or 1960's probably has memories of all of the women wearing gloves on Sundays for Church, or in the evenings for pretty much any outing. My mother wore gloves all of the time. Gloves were glamour. Of course the length of the gloves mattered. This pattern is for short, or wrist length gloves. These would be considered Day or Casual Gloves.

I remember getting a new pair of gloves every Easter. Thanks for sharing this pattern.
ReplyDeleteTime consuming but one of those projects that would be easy to carry with you and do when you are waiting. When I worked and had an hour to fill at lunch I loved these types of projects.
ReplyDeleteI have loads and loads of pictures of the women in our family all decked out with hats and gloves, just to go to town! Thank you for the pattern!

ReplyDeleteWe had hats and gloves that came out in the spring. I was daughter #3 so I always had a hand-me-down. I was not good to my gloves or my white Mary Janes for that matter. I was always climbing a tree in inappropriate attire...
DeleteLove gloves of all kinds. Yes we wore them back in the 50's got new pair each Easter. I got me a new pair when I went to Italy made of of leather. " they fit like a glove sorry had to say that........ " Keeping this so I can maybe make me a pair soon.
ReplyDeleteItalian Leather Gloves.. Ahhh Like butter!
DeleteLove the gloves! Can't wait to try making these.
ReplyDeleteI bet these would be great in black nylon upcycled from old slips, especially if the original lace trim could be incorporated.
ReplyDeleteOOH, I've never tried making gloves. It may be time to start!
