Welcome March, 1969!!

March is here, so let's look back at March, 1969!

McCall's 9635, McCall's 9651
Comfortable and stylish dresses are featured on the front cover.. perfect for the office, or maybe even a summery picnic! I love the big pockets in 9651.  So handy.  I also love the wrap look of 9635, and what luck, The Pattern Shopp has 9635 in stock!

McCall's 9633

Some frilly bohemian looks.. that neck detail and frilly fronts are quickly coming back in style for this spring.  A very similar dress (McCall's 9366) is in stock at Pattern Matters.

McCall's 9623, 9517

A shirt dress alone, or paired with crisp pants.  Pants in stock now at Jeanie's Shop and Maddie Mod Patterns.  Sorry about the crooked picture.. it was printed that way, not scanned that way!

Looks From Vogue News - July 1, 1960 - 55 Years Ago Today!

I happened to have a Vogue News flyer that was dated to the day... July 1, 1960.. 55 years ago today!

I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the looks from that wonderful year.

I really love the collar on this dress.

The cover featured Vogue 5052, with an interesting collar and flower decoration at the waist.

The pleated skirt is so cute!  And check out the "new lowered waistline."

Pretty suits were shown on the first page.

That's an interesting hat you've got there, Donna.

Half-Size patterns were featured on page 3.

I'm in love with Vogue 4126!

The descriptions and copy for page 4 are killer!  Be sure to read it all.  I especially like the sound of "gentle-mannered sheatherie"  (See following page for the picture)

I admit, I didn't know what a "redingote" was, so I looked it up... it's a type of coat, so in this case it refers to the wrap dress over the sheath.

Pretty and cool Vogue 5049, top left, is seen here in Found Alchemy Pattern's shop.

Versatile Vogue 5044 is seen here in The Pattern Shopp.

The drop waistline is seen again in Vogue 5050.

Descriptions for these are seen on the previous page.

These are really hard to find patterns, and I can see why!  Very classy!

Ultra-rare Paris Original patterns featured on page 5.

True elegance seen in Vogue 1002.

More rare Couturier Design patterns on the final page.

Here are some similar patterns from Pattern Patter Team shops.

Looks from McCall's Fashion Digest, May 1960

Hello everyone!

Here's just a little idea I had to share some pattern mini-catalogs from years past. These cute collectibles often contain illustrations and photographs that weren't seen anywhere else. They are great for seeing what was up-to-the minute in fashion.

Today, we'll look at a McCall's catalog from May of 1960, to celebrate the coming summer.  Breezy and cool dresses are just perfect for the warm weather.  Let's see what we can make!  :)

On the cover, we have a breezy summer sundress that's oh-so-sweet!

McCall's 5415, available at these Pattern Patter Team Shops.

More pretty, summery looks on the inside!

I just love the full-skirt look.  Sweet like ice cream on a hot day! :)
McCall's 5412 really goes for a formal look.  The tiered skirt in 5405 is really cool.
McCall's 5405 has a neat and unusual tiered skirt.
Available in this member shop:

Or if you prefer a much more formal slim skirt, try 5412, available in these member shops:

Patterns From The Past

McCall's 5397 has some really neat seam interest.  More button shoulders in 5399.
More interesting seaming in 5396.  Pretty full skirts seen in 5401 and 5398.  The unusual puffy sleeves featured in 5401 don't really show very well in this illustration.
More shoulder ties are seen in 5377.  Check out those puffy sleeves in 5424!
Look at the neat removable peplum in McCall's 5425.
A selection of belts that could be used with almost any of the above dresses.
The booklet closes out with a mother-daughter fashion.
I hope you've enjoyed this look at May 1960! I hope it gave you some inspiration for your own sewing project.

These patterns all seem to be pretty rare. If you've made any of them, be sure to comment. Or, just let us know which ones are your favorites. :)
